The TransferPlus
Money Transfer/KSAFA Under 17 Competition commenced
on Thursday, July 10, 2008 with defending Champions
Real Mona recording a 5 -0 victory over Shortwood
United at Buttercup Park.
21 teams were
registered (29 teams participated last year) to
participate in the competition out of a possible
total 39. 78 games were scheduled to be played
including the semi-finals and finals; however 3
games did not play due to adverse weather condition
while 2 ended prematurely.
The season saw the
issuing of a total of 238 yellow cards and 37 red
cards this compared to 170 yellows and 23 red cards
in the 2007 season.
Despite the number
of cards issued, the teams scored a total of 257
goals comparing to 334 in the 2006/2007.
2 teams, Brown’s
Town F.C. and Meadforest F.C. were voted fair play
teams having picked up only 6 yellow cards combined.
Machel Baker of
Cooreville Gardens F.C. was the leading goal scorer
of the season scoring 18 goals while Donovan Edwards
of Harbour View F.C. got 12 goals, Kenrick Reeves
and Chevaughn Warren of Waterhouse F.C scoring 11
goals each, fellow teammate Kimo Grant with 9 goals
and Devon Williams of Real Mona F.C. 6 goals.
The competition
ended on Friday, September 26, 2008 with Cooreville
Gardens F.C. walking away as champions after
clipping Arnett Gardens F.C. 2 goals to 1.
Waterhouse F.C. finished 3rd, Real Mona 4th, Tivoli
Gardens 5th and Santos F.C. copping the 6th spot.
The Most Valuable
Player was Machel Baker of Cooreville Gardens F.C.
Meadheaven United
F.C. was the 2006/07 Champion.
