KSAFA VP Jacqueline
Cowans meeting members of Greenwhich Football Team in U-20
Semifinals 2010 |
Harbour View qualified for the
final of the Claro KSAFA Under 20 Champions League with an
emphatic 4-0 semifinal defeat of Greenwhich Town FC played at
Constant Spring on Saturday, June 5.
It was a confident Star of the
East aggregation that took to the field . From the outset, the
hitherto unbeaten team toyed with their less experienced
Greenwhich town opponent with slick moving passes. Apart from
some sporadic forays by Greenwhich Town, Harbour View dominated
the first 15 minutes as they virtually took up occupation of the
opponents’ half of the field. It was not surprising therefore
when the Ludlow Bernard coached team took the lead as Jermie
Lynch slammed home from a left footed free kick taken by Kemar
‘taxi’ Lawrence in the 16th minute. Harbour view further gained
the ascendancy with a lob from Ateba Morgan to go two up in the
34th min. On the stroke of half time, Oneil Fisher carried his
team 3-0 up.
In the opening minutes of the
second half, it looked like Harbour View had lost their momentum
as the players lapsed into complacency bordering on boredom.
Despite a spirited fight back by Greenwhich Town, their players
however failed to capitalise on the lapses of Harbor View with
faulty shooting . Just as the match appeared to be petering out
into a dull second half, Donovan Edwards skimmed in a goal to
put Harbour view 4 -0 up in the 90th minute.
Harbour View will meet the
winner of Tuesday’s semifinal between Waterhouse and Tivoli at
the same venue at 3.30 pm
