Chairman of Harbour View
Football Club and Vice-Chairman of the Premier League Football
Association (PLCA), was honoured last Thursday at the KSA
Business House Football Assciation awards presentation, at the
the Scotiabank Sports Club in Liguanea. He received the Abe
Alexander Memorial Award for his outstanding administrative
service to football in Jamaica, which started in 1967. He thank
the BHFA for the award and replied to guest speaker of the
presentation, Ronald Sutherland, Vice President , Sales &
Marketing of CVM TV, about the PLCA decision to terminate the
live showing of Premier League Football matches on CVM TV. He
was also very upset about FIFA Vice President Jack Warner's
comments about the the Reggae Boyz, who recently won the 2010
Digicel Cup, and told the gathering that the PLCA would be
sending a letter to both Mr Warner and the JFF, to show their
displeasure concerning it.
Division one champion Petrojam
and Wisynco both dominate the awards presentation by copping six
(6) awards each. Wisynco won the division two and Knockout
competitions, a first in the history of Business House Football.
Wray & Nephew were runner up in both competitions. Promoted
Petrojam became the second team to win the division one title in
their first year, when they defeated former champion Carib
Cement in the final. They also won the Challenge trophy. Girvon
Brown of Wisynco and Nicholas McCreath were join leading goal
scorer, with five (5) goals in the Knockout competition. Omar
Washington was the division two final MVP, while coach Marcus
Gayle and Keith Gayle were division two coach and Manager of the
year. Girvon Brown cop his second award for the night as he was
the leading goal scorer in division two with twelve (12) goals.
David Stultz of Petrojam was the leading scorer in division one
with nine (9) goals, while his teammate, Aphas Bernard was the
final mvp for division one. Coach Raymond Quallo and manager
Robert Blake were both division one manager and coach of the
year respectively. First time entrant National Land Agency won
the fair play award, while former President Lorna Franklin was
given an honorary award, for her twenty (20) year of service to
the BHFA from 1986-2006. Current President Wayne Shaw and Brian
Rose were recognised for their fifteen (15) years of service,
while treasurer Joseph Fagan was also recognised for twenty (20)
years. Carvel Banton and Shane Harrison were the referee and
assistant referee for the 2010 season. Individual awardees were
given gift vouchers from sponsors Western Sports Limited.
