Gleaner Company defeated
Scotiabank Group in the final of the 2011 Scotiabank Group
sponsored Business House Football Knock Out Competition, 4-3
on penalties after they played to a 0-0 full and extra time
draw.
Scotiabank Group had
themselves to blame as they missed numerous scoring
opportunities during the game. The most blatant being a point
blank header by Ajuran Brown in the second half which went
across the the goal. Gleaner's goal keeper Everdeen Scarlett
was outstanding for his team, as he repeatedly denied Stefan
Bartley, Akeem Themstead, Donavan Hibbert and Elgin Mitchell
with some excellent saves.
Goal keeper Damion Crooks of
Scotiabank was hardly called into action, but he prevented
Loxksley Thompson and Keiron Brock from scoring in the second
half. In the penalty Everdeen Scarlett, Bernard Blackwood,
Loxksley Thompson and Fabian Swaby all scored for Gleaner.
Nicholas McCreath, Norwayne Knight and Damion Gardener all
scored for Scotiabank, but goal keeper, Everdeen Scarlett,
saved Jermaine Gardener and Richard West spot kicks, to hand
his team their second hold on the Knock Out trophy.
They will next play the
winner of Division 2 in the Challenge competition on Wednesday
September 7, 2011.
