Caribbean Ltd through its brand Lucozade announced a
sponsorship of $450,000 for the 2007/08 renewal of
The KSAFA Fitz Ramsay U13 competition.
The announcement
took place at the press launch at Polyanna
Restaurant in Kingston on ‘Bastille Day’, Friday,
July 14, 2007 .
The Kiwanis Club of
Liguanea also announced a co-sponsorship and handed
over 2 match balls to each team valued at $115,000
This together with Lucozade brought the overall
sponsorship to $565,000 which more than double that
of Milo in the previous season. Last year Nestle
invested $220,000.
Some 36 teams
divided in 4 zones were slated to participate in the
competition which will have a symbolic kick off at
the match between defending champions, Real Mona FC
and Liguanea at Buttercup Park on Thursday, July 19
at 3pm.
Matches will be
played on a round robin basis in four zones on
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 3pm ,with the
top two in each zone advancing to the quarter
finals.

Stewart Stephenson, speaking at the press
conference, pointed out that getting sponsorship was
no easy task, but that his association has managed
to attract as many as 20 backers for its
competitions over the past three years. He outlined
the history of the competition which was started by
the Kiwanis Club of Ligaunea in the latter part of
the 1980’s, and the Fitz Ramsay trophy in honour of
the founding member of the club.
He then outlined
