Rising from the
bowels of the construction site vacated by the West Indies Home
Contractors, used after they built the residential community in
1960 without a designated playground.
THE
FORMATIVE YEARS:
Since the days
when the eager citizens of Harbour View grouped together at the
Harbour View Primary School classrooms to meet and greet each
other.
The love of
football mostly then at the Desnoes & Geddes Minor League Under
16 years level which we won for the first time in 1972, before
taking the conscious decision to enter the KSAFA Major League in
September 1974 after electing officers in the newly formed
Harbour View Football Club previously named after the community
only – Harbour View.
The enterprising
young men set about cleaning, excavating and developing the
waste land until eventually in 1994, under Club Chairman Carvel
Stewart, and the CFC Construction Engineers Limited built a
5,000 seater, the first ever football stadium owned by a Club in
the Caribbean.
1994
STADIA:
Officially opened
by CFU President, Austin “Jack” Warner and assisted by Captain
Burrell, making it into an internationally approved FIFA
Football Stadium where CONCACAF Champions Club Tournaments were
broadcast LIVE on Fox Sports World on Television viewers in over
175 countries in 2007.
Hosting multiple
local, Regional and International Tournaments and Finals the
venue has spawned a development of similar stadia around
Kingston and across Jamaica by many other Premier League Clubs.
1998
INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER:
As Jamaica made
history in 1998, by participating in its first ever FIFA World
Cup appearance in France, so too HVFC as our three players Peter
Cargill, Onandi Lowe and a 19 year old Ricardo “Bibi” Gardner
were the most by any one club but it was the first international
Transfer of Ricardo Gardner to Bolton Wanderers on June 30th
that created history in itself.
Never before has
such a young Jamaican player moved to an international club in
Europe’s top League, with his mother. He still plies his trade
at the English Premiership club some 12 years later.
Since then twelve
(12) other HVFC players have played overseas in top European,
North American and Caribbean clubs.
REGGAE BOYZ
CONTRIBUTIONS:
With 89 Juniors, 8
Females and 52 Senior Reggae Boyz in addition to Administrators,
Team Managers, Coaches, Physiotherapist and Equipment Managers,
HVFC continues to make a solid contribution to the nation’s
football programme with approximately 150 persons.

Jamaican Club.
The only Jamaican
Club to enter into the CONCACAF Club Champions Cup in 2005 and
2008, with entry in the inaugural CONCACAF Club Champions League
in Mexico, 2008.
THREE TIME
PREMIERSHIP CHAMPIONS:
Our first year in
the KSAFA Major League went well in gaining a third place in
1974 behind eventual winners Cavaliers FC, we however would win
in 1976, 1985 and again
in 1994.
Winning the
islandwide Premier League titles on three (3) occasions in 2000,
2005 and 2009 has placed HVFC in a prime position along with
only four other clubs.
The most recent
made twice as good, as HVFC also won the JFF 2009 Under 21
Competition as well, for a third consecutive year following
victories in 2007 and 2008.
THE
FUTURE:
Our upgraded
“First-Kick” beginners programme has grown tremendously to
register over 220 Boys and Girls, as we bring on new
international partnerships with Global Soccer Ministries (GSM)
in Coaching Seminars, Artificial Field Development and
International Tournaments which started in September 2010 with
the visiting Charlotte Eagles tour.
There are plans to
strengthen management, improve administrative structure, upgrade
facilities, develop merchandise, improve strategy for the
marketing of the club.
There is a
commitment to forge deeper relations within the Harbour View
community, other adjoining communities and sports loving persons
islandwide.
Harbour View is
actively seeking to expand its horizons further by building
international alliances in the Caribbean, North America, Central
America and Europe.
