Overview

David R. Hunt
General Secretary

Throughout the year under review, sponsorship was once again garnered for the successful promotion of all KSAFA competitions and activities. A worthy achievement.

The efforts of the hard working Council was ably assisted by the performance of the following Committees;

  • Sponsorship, Marketing and Special Projects

  • Finance

  • Competitions

  • Technical

  • Constitution and Rules Review

  • Referees

  • Disciplinary

  • Appeals

These were ably led by hard working and competent Chairperson, who along with enthusiastic members, ensured that the various activities organized by the Association were successfully staged.

In order to keep the affiliates informed of the Association's efforts and plans, meetings were held with the Clubs before the commencement of every competition or seminar. The positive image of the Association was also maintained, with the high level of publicity generated in the media, based on the numerous Press Conferences and Award Ceremonies that were held during the year. Media coverage of the Association's Competitions was also good. During the year, the Council assisted a number of Clubs with reorganization efforts and helped, in tangible ways, to overcome some Clubs lack of home fields on which to play their competitive games.

In the 2005/06 JFF Confederation U-13 and U-15 Competitions, KSAFA teams continued their domination with the Carlton Dennis and Lijyasu Simms coached Kingston team winning the U-13 title, and the Everald Campbell and Utah Blade coached Kingston team taking the U-15 title. The Keith Nichols and Ludlow Bernard coached St. Andrew team failed to retain their U-15 title, losing to Kingston in the Final.

In the JFF Premier League, Waterhouse were crowned champions after a successful and exciting chase of early leaders Harbour View. Barbican F.C. won the JFF's Women's League and Harbour View lifted the JFF's women's KG title. At the National level, KSAFA players are well represented on the Senior, U-23, U-20, and U-17 teams.

As we come to the close of a very successful year, I would like to thank the members of the Secretariat, the various Committees, the Council, the Clubs, the Sponsors and the Media for the contributions made throughout the year. Without those contributions, the Association would not have had the successes it achieved.

Thank you.

Council Meetings

Twenty-two (22) Council Meetings were held during the year (September 22, 2005 -September 7, 2006). Apart from the seven elected members, four representatives of affiliated organizations (The Business House Football Association, The Jamaica Independent Schools Association, the Kingston and St. Andrew Masters League Association and the Whole Life Ministries) completed the Council.

Also attending Council meetings, on a regular basis, were the Competitions Coordinator, Margaret Sutherland, and the Chairpersons of the various Committees.

Council meetings were well attended and the level of participation from members was of a very high standard.

Seminars

Medical

A medical Seminar was held on Saturday, May 6, 2006, at the St. John's Ambulance Headquarters. Sponsorship for the seminar was provided by Lascelles Laboratories and Gatorade. Refills for the medical kits were also provided.

Administration

Leadership from the Council was strongly supported by the efforts of the office staff, Margaret Sutherland, Competitions Coordinator, and Kedine Shepherd, Administrative Assistant, along with the Chairmen and members of the seven (7) KSAFA Standing Committees.

Based on the level of effort expended, all KSAFA events and competitions were well organized and implemented.

The Future

Communication to Clubs, registration of teams and players, settlement of outstanding financial obligations by Clubs, Refereeing standards and service provided to clubs by the office, are areas that still need more improvement. To this end a software package has already been purchased for the electronic registration of players and negotiations have been finalized for the development of a KSAFA website.

Affiliates, Club Representatives and other Council Members, as we embark on yet another election exercise we can all be proud of the fact that the future of KSAFA continues to look bright and with the organized efforts of all of our family members, another successful two year period is assured.

Good Luck and Best Wishes during the rest of the Year.
